She went on to study veterinary medicine at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University, graduating in 2004. Dr. Amato went on to complete a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the New England Animal Medical Center in West Bridgewater, where she developed an interest and focus in surgery. Her residency aspirations brought her back to Tufts, where she completed a joint residency at Tufts University and Angell Animal Medical Center, in small animal orthopedic and soft tissue surgery. Upon completion of her training, Dr. Amato practiced soft tissue and orthopedic surgery at Tufts V.E.T.S., VCA South Shore Animal Hospital, and IVG MetroWest.

Dr. Amato enjoys all aspects of orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, but takes a special interest in orthopedics, minimally invasive surgery/arthroscopy, pain management, regenerative medicine, and rehabilitation. She has extensive experience in the surgical management of cranial cruciate ligament rupture and performs the TPLO, TTA and Lateral Suture for stifle stabilization. Dr. Amato has an interest in juvenile orthopedic conditions, such as elbow dysplasia/medial compartment syndrome, OCD, and hip dysplasia, as well as sports related injuries common in many veterinary patients. The backbone of her practice is the personalized care that she strives to offer to all patients and their families. She makes every effort to bring a comprehensive, multimodal approach involving pain management and rehabilitation to all of her cases.

In Dr. Amato’s spare time, she loves to spend time with her husband, Chris, their two young sons, Evan and Liam, and their menagerie of pets.
